Light up the Room with a Lyle’s Lantern

difficulty

Easy

Create a magical lantern with your empty Lyle’s tin and add a warm, cosy glow to any setting. Perfect for festive decorations or just adding a bit of charm to your home.

What you’ll need:

• Empty Lyle’s tins
• Hammer and nail
• LED tea light or small LED candle
• Paint
• String

How to make it:

1. Wash your tin with warm, soapy water (not suitable for the dishwasher), then dry it thoroughly.

2. You can either leave the tin as is or paint it a different colour. Then, using a nail and hammer, carefully punch holes in the tin to create any pattern you like.

3. Place an LED tea light or small LED candle inside the tin and watch it glow.

For a festive touch, attach string and use your lantern as a Christmas tree decoration, or turn it into a recycled jack-o-lantern for Halloween.
